History 1990-1993The origins of Knarrefest go back to 1990 when Brian Welden held a free outdoor concert / BBQ at a park in Northvale New Jersey. Performing at this event was Baccus Laugh, a free form rock and roll band featuring many future Knarrefest guests and performers. When the BBQ was over, a group of over 40 people ended up at a house in North Jersey and the Knarrefest seed was planted. Many BBQ's took place from 1990-93 in north and south Jersey. They all had the spirit and the passion that would become the Knarrefest tradition for years to come. In 1993 a party was held in North Jersey that was truly the framework for the current Knarrefest event. It featured friends and co-workers from all over the tri-state area. After one too many drinks the party was dubbed Knarrefest (by either Matt Griffin or Steve Ronner). The name stuck and has remained ever since. Performing an acoustic set at this party was Brian Murray, who will go down as one of the most requested performers at this BBQ. |
